No win, no fee has become a well known phrase in our society, with the implications and suggestions instantly recognised by nearly all Britons.
No win no fee adverts bombard out television screens as we are constantly encouraged to pursue no win no fee claims against our friends and employers.
However, many in the business feel that no win no fee solicitors have suffered from unfair representation in the media, exacerbated by hard nosed television adverts and mocking news stories.
The majority of no win no fee claims are brought by people who have suffered a genuine accident and deserve compensation.
And the lawyers who represent these people are attempting to win justice for the people, not drain money out of anyone and everyone as some sources may have us believe.
Many newspapers report stories of seemingly laughable incidents where injured parties have sought compensation after a seemingly comical accident, such as slipping on a banana skin.
The problem is that with these stories the media has a tendency to play up the comic aspect of these incidents, overlooking the fact that real injury was caused and compensation was needed in accordance with the devastating injuries which the victims have to live with.
Further parody of the no win no fee business is seen in new sitcom Admin, which is based in a no win no fee solicitors office in Manchester. It follows the work and lives of a group the employees of fictional law firm Fox, Carter & Co.
It is based on writer David Isaac’s real life experiences working as a supervising solicitor in a Manchester law firm.

A lot of people like to watch another medical TV series which is called Grey’s Anatomy. This TV show has its fans and opponents as usually. Opponents consider this show as real parody on hospital life and activity.
If we consider this series objectively, we can see both positive and negative moments. At first sight it is funny show buy if we look deeper it is possible to see more important problems which are hidden. This series is the medical sitcom and drama, but all events happen in Seattle Grace Hospital, which is not ordinary medical organization.
The plot of the show is the following: there are medical interns who fight with each other in order to be notices by recognized doctors and receive more points. They collect points for everything, even for the observing surgeries. This is one of the activities which Izzie Sevens (Katherine Heigl) does a lot.
These interns spend a lot o time in the hospital then in fact live there days and nights. It is expected that hey begin to compete with each other and show their medical talents and skills, but nothing like this happens they behave in other way which can be considered as rather strange one.
There medical inters run in the hospital looking for patients who can help then to gain more scores. For example Izzie gets the patient who doesn’t have anything serious. In the end Izzie advises him to spend some time in bed and drink a lot of fluids. But because of her desire to find some medical sensation, she makes the patient to pass a lot of tests and examinations which are senseless. The end is funny, but nobody thinks that patient spent plenty of time passing those test and lost a lot of time.
So, in general it depends upon you how to treat this TV show. Maybe it is a funny series or maybe it has certain sense which is hidden and waits when we discover it.

Who hasn’t had a crush on Daisy Duke, or on one of her cousins? Sexy men, a beautiful and feisty girl, great car with an iconic horn, and a rebel yell all stirred together made one of the campiest shows on television something great.
Yankees do not understand this. The plots were lame, the villainous Boss Hogg like a cardboard cutout, and the basic idea behind the show was one big car chase interspersed with a moonshine still, sexy girls in daisy dukes shorts, and tricked law enforcement officials. It should have been lame as a three-legged mule. Yet it wasn’t, not to the redneck.
Start with the name: Dukes. The name calls up several things: the Duke himself, of course, John Wayne, a member of the royalty, the scampy Duke of Bilgewater in Huckleberry Finn. But in the end, you have redneck royalty: a stick-together family filled with life and energy, an unbeatable car (that could run shine or kick butt on Nascar as easy as it outran the law), a patriarch who made moonshine, and a villainous overlord to fight.
It also, if you look at it right, is a retelling of an old story that is much loved in the South: Robin Hood. Think about it: the Dukes of Hazzard used a compound bow, they were always running from and outsmarting the sheriff, and though they didn’t have a king to put in place (unless you count Uncle Jesse, who certainly would work), they were always fighting Boss Hogg, who is a perfect analogy for Prince John Lackland.
But then, it’s also just a lot of fun to watch. The South was built on moonshine in a lot of ways; it got many families through some hard times. During prohibition, the refusal of many ’shine makers to quit selling liquor may have been the foundation of the South’s new rising. The fast cars that ran ’shine became a Southern tradition too, with their mechanics and drivers the Robin Hood heroes of the good ol’ boy, eventually morphing into Nascar teams. Watching OUR boys winning against a clear bad guy, and often against carpetbagger clones, was thrilling and pride-inspiring. Where do we have its equivalent in today’s television?
Anyway, the show was canceled in 1985, and the movie, though Jessica Simpson looked mighty nice in those Daisy Dukes, did not live up to the show. But the Dukes are not dead.
Although the show was set in fictitional Hazzard County, Georgia, you can look in Hazard, Kentucky, for the living embodiments of Boss Hogg and Roscoe P. Coltrane, a fleet of 1969 Dodge Chargers, and plenty of Daisy Dukes and their admirers. This tiny mining town is tucked way up in the Appalachians close to the Cumberland Gap, but it’s worth driving out for their Black Gold Festival (named for the coal mined in the region) in late September. Citizens of Hazard used to dress like the characters, all the way to the mayor dressing like Boss Hogg in fat suit and everything. They still have a great street rod show, with lots of General Lees, and cast members from the show are known to show up.
Or look on Amazon and eBay. There’s a hot economy around buying and selling Dukes memorabilia, from model cars to the hard-to-find reunion movies. If you can’t pick up the movies, you can get boxed sets of the first seasons of the Dukes of Hazzard. The show will look great on your big screen, and you’ll get a chance to see the General Lee hovering giant-size over your couch if you have one of the really big plasmas.
The Daisy Dukes, on the other hand, will look really nice on your girl as she sits and watches the show with you. Remember, girls: Daisy Dukes never go out of style.

The rise in online auctions has created a global garage sale. Interestingly it is this exact atmosphere that is a draw to customers that enjoy bargain hunting.
Many online auction users are used to spending Saturday mornings driving from one location to the next in search of a treasure. These individuals may not even be certain what they are looking for, but they know it when they see it.
Just as the local newspaper provides details on the most promising garage sales, so too does the online search function of various auction sites.
If you were to stop and talk to anyone at a garage sale about the one item they purchased at a garage sale that had the most meaning they would each have a story of an item that is still in use and was the greatest bargain they have ever encountered.
The same could be true of online auction users. Each day customers are finding out-of-print music, classic books, Hollywood memorabilia, items from pop culture, furniture, automobiles and much more.
The circus atmosphere of an online auction site contributes to the end use enjoyment for customers.
This is the atmosphere online businesses can take advantage of when they place items for sale on an auction site.
Many online businesses will provide items for sale at auction that have a minimum bid price that is much less than the retail price of the item. The reason they do this is to generate significant interest in the auctioned item.
If the items becomes popular with bidders the online business selling the item may wind up selling it for more than it’s worth, but they may also find they have encouraged many potential customers to consider their online business website.
One of the reasons the use of an online auction site is a powerful marketing tool is simply because it taps into a mindset that may not initially be inclined to visit your online store.
The bargain hunter, the frugal man or woman, those on a budget are prone to utilize auction sites simply because they are relatively sure they will find the best deals there. If you can prove you are interested in the price conscious consumer you may convert the bargain hunter into a regular customer at your online shop. The mechanism used is an online auction site that tells a certain type of consumer that you understand and will do your best to keep your prices at a level that is inviting to bargain hunters on a global basis.

In Hollywood’s infancy, filmmakers used real money in their productions, only to run into legal and administrative problems such as workers stealing the money. At the time, very strict laws prohibited the filmmakers from copying, photographing or imitating American currency in any way. This presented Hollywood with a very tricky problem. Always resourceful, filmmakers found a way around it.
At the time, there happened to be large amounts of devalued currency printed by the Confederates during the American Civil War and Mexican Money printed during the Mexican Revolution. Both failed governments had issued a lot of money, hoping the volume would help stave off the money’s declining values. Of course, they failed and the money was useless until Hollywood bought up caches of both types of cash, and the first Hollywood prop money was created.
Over time, the Confederate and Mexican folding money wore out, and most of it was thrown away or lost. By then, laws governing the reproduction of fake currency had loosened somewhat. Prop-making manufacturers began to print false money.
Much of this early fake money is now available via specialty Hollywood memorabilia stores. The makers of this money often copied Mexican and Confederate designs and used deliberate misspellings like “Steats of Amreica” to be sure the money could not be passed off as real. Many of these designs are interesting and very beautiful to look at. Though the designers were making obvious fake money, they took the time to make it look great.
In more recent history, laws loosened even more and the stacks of prop dollars being printed by manufacturers became even more convincing. There have been several incidents where the Secret Service (which oversees American currency and stings counterfeiters) has stepped in and confiscated Hollywood prop money, and forced companies to discontinue printing it.
In one notable case, bills with a total face value close to $1 Billion was blown up during the filming of “Rush Hour 2″ in Las Vegas. A significant amount of the fake money, which happened to be very convincing, drifted into crowds of people in Las Vegas. Knowingly and unknowingly, people began to use the bills. Large amounts of this money began turning up in the Las Vegas and Los Angeles areas. Many bills were being passed successfully.
As the incident grew more widespread, the Secret Service got involved and the company that produced the bills, Independent Studio Services, Inc., became embroiled in legal trouble. The Secret Service deemed their fake money product too realistic and seized the prop money from ISSI’s facilities. Eventually the company had to stop printing fake money altogether.
Today, prop money is still widely available via memorabilia stores, prop suppliers, private collectors and online auctions. But this prop money is almost always obviously fake, with indicators printed on the bills. Also, much of this fake money is smaller than its real counterpart. Worldwide collectors are eager to spend great amounts of money in order to acquire these fake prints that have been used many years ago.

There is a big market for Hollywood Entertainment/Memorabilia. Many collectors focus on collecting original autographs of movie stars, movie producers and the cast members of Broadway plays and musicals. Once a movie star is deceased, the value of their signature on anything is considered to be a highly valued item.
Other Hollywood Entertainment/Memorabilia items focus on things that are directly connected with a specific movie. Some collectors prefer to collect miles of film that were outtakes of a movie and were never viewed by the general public in a movie theatre. These glimpses to the past are very rare and highly sought after by collectors because they are investments that could reap great rewards if they are released to the Public.
Some Hollywood Entertainment/Memorabilia items are reprints. The originals were marketed as limited editions and are extremely collectible. The public at large has expressed extreme interest in using these reprints to decorate their homes or create shrines for their favorite actors and actresses. The reprints that are autographed by the individual are also considered to be highly collectible.
Every movie has a music score and some Hollywood Entertainment/Memorabilia music items are very hard to find. Some movie producers will use a music score only once for the opening night and then assign several versions of the movie score to be played at movie theatres in various parts of the country. The original music score for a Hollywood Entertainment/Memorabilia item is priceless.
There has been considerable interest in using Hollywood Entertainment Memorabilia as wallpaper for cellular telephones. Fans of Marilyn Monroe or James Dean can now enjoy their idol and carry their image around with them every day when the image is placed on the display area of their mobile phone.
Music scores from movies, comedy routines and television programs have been converted to MP3 files and are used throughout the world on mobile phones. These Hollywood Entertainment/Memorabilia items have been converted to ringtones. Now callers can be identified by the voice of Frank Sinatra or the sultry voice of Mae West.
Many people prefer to use the old cartoons as background images on their PDAs, mobile phones or laptop computers. The Hollywood Entertainment/Memorabilia that used to entertain us during intermission can now be found in all sorts of places, including the shirts that we wear and the designs that we place on our pants. Hollywood Entertainment/Memorabilia sales have been brisk and there is still a way to market the oldies and goodies that brought joy to so many lives, so long ago.

Americans, and indeed many people around the world, are hooked on celebrity news and gossip. Our media centered world feeds this obsession. By all accounts, this Hollywood star worship continues to grow.
We can discern three reasons for this phenomenon:
1) Identity– Here an individual identifies with a particular celebrity. This is the image and personality he or she would like to be in the imagination. Even the meek and downtrodden can dream of being Bruce Willis or Sylvester Stallone defeating the bad guys in high style. How many coming of age baby boomers wished they were Elvis, a Beatle–or Ann Margaret?
2) Diversion– Psychologists know that a depressed individual will become less so when he or she can focus on some outer experience, any neutral or pleasant experience that breaks the obsession with self. Although most celebrity seekers are not depressed, this plays into the celebrity centered life. It’s pleasurable for the individual to see images of very attractive and well known stars and it’s a break from day-to-day routine activities.
3) Esteem Build-Up– We’ve all done it even if we know it’s not our best moment. We feel momentarily good about a celebrity’s messy and very public life, especially for a multi million dollar earner with many adoring fans. These public humiliations make us feel that perhaps our lives are more successful than we take credit for. We may not make millions of dollars or appear on the big screen, but at least most of us have not engaged in drunken brawls, entered luxury re-hab for the fourth time or driven a car with a baby on our lap!
Backgound
Hollywood’s influence has been felt in American culture for decades. Movie fan magazines began in 1911 and prospered through the decades with names like Photoplay and Modern Screen leading the pack. By the late 1940ss and 1950s, America’s growing wealth spurred adolescents and young adults to buy and read these magazines in even large numbers. Magazines of this era included Photoplay, Modern Screen, Silver Screen, Movie Fan, Movie Story, Screen Album, Screen Stars, and Screen Stories. Features were typically lightweight and often centered around shopping dilemmas for hounded stars or stories from the set of a new movie. The slick color photos were really the centerpieces of these magazines.
By the 1960s, specialty magazines such as Screen Legends and Film and TV Careers featured celebrity profiles and interviews. It was in this period that many magazines began featuring more salacious material to boost circulation. That led to this era’s tabloids which include the National Enquirer, the National Examiner, Star and US. Although some stories are largely fabricated, readers want to believe it and it’s the writer’s job to make each story sound credible. Although most celebrities decry the tabloids, their own publicists often suggest story lines to magazine editors. One fact is certain, sensational news is big business and the demand for this type of entertainment continues unabated.
Television and celebrity news are an ideal match. Sound, moving images and an enthusiastic host makes for addicting viewing. Entertainment Tonight began broadcasting in 1981 and set the benchmark for slick and fast paced half hour episodes focusing on Hollywood news with a focus on controversial star behavior. Cable TV outlets such as CNN, A&E, and even your local newscast often include celebrity centered programming. E! network owes its very existence to celebrities and their foibles. And Hollywood celebrities still make of the majority of late night shows’ guest lists.
Many younger fans get their news primarily from the internet. A recent Google search brings up over 18 million hits for ‘celebrity news.’ RSS news feeds are available to bring the latest news of your favorite stars right to your desktop. Recent upstart TMZ has become an internet powerhouse. TMZ has the corporate backing of AOL and Telepictures Productions, a division of Warner Bros. The web site has garnered attention from other entertainment outlets by publishing Mel Gibson’s DUI police report, showing an image of Tom Cruise and Katie Holme’s daughter’s birth certificate and presenting a cell phone video of Michael Richard’s racial outburst at a comedy club.
The internet is a solid match for those looking for images of their favorite stars. A single site can hold many thousands of images, all cataloged by name. Web searchers can copy and paste these images for their own personal use. Popular destinations include personal blogs, My Space profiles or other social networks, and as computer desktop screen savers and wallpaper.
Is this modern day obsession with celebrity harmful? As with anything, if it interferes with conducting your daily life, it just may be. But as a leisure time activity, it’s no more than a harmless and enjoyable diversion.
